FIRAS - Training and Accreditation Schemes for Installers of Passive Fire Protection Products
|
|
Why Use A FIRAS Accredited Installer?
|
|
Few things are more fundamental to fire safety in buildings than the fire resisting materials used to protect the structural
skeleton. Failure of this material can lead to premature collapse of the building.
|
| IT IS VITAL THAT THE QUALITY OF MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP IS ASSURED. Using a FIRAS Accredited Installer will give you that assurance. |
| FIRAS is a training and accreditation scheme for the installers/applicators of passive protection products. The Structural Steelwork Scheme was developed by Warrington Fire Research with the Association for Specialist Fire Protection. BY SPECIFYING A FIRAS ACCREDITED INSTALLER YOU CAN EXPECT: |
- Contractors who understand the critical aspects of the designed fire protection system
- Products to be used within their tested or assessed scope of performance
- Work to be undertaken to agreed industry standards
- The use of skilled and trained operators and supervisors to ensure that work is completed right first time
- Fewer site difficulties
- Storage and use of materials appropriate for environmental conditions
- Confirmation of product compatibility before application/installation
- Product traceability - through FIRAS audits of company records
- The offer of an insurance backed warranty
- A Certificate of Conformity stating that the work was undertaken to the required standard
|
| The Objective Is Confidence |
| FIRAS provides reassurance to the specifier, building control, fire authority, insurer, and all other interested parties,
that the fire protection installation has been carried out by knowledgeable and competent operators and supervisors and that
the system will perform as anticipated. |
